Hello, JV Families.  Below is some information that needs to be addressed in order to support the team and help ensure our players have a good season:

Pasta Party - For the parents I didn't connect with at last night's WABO meeting, please send $35 with your son topractice tomorrow to give to Jack Kehoe, or to be handed to me in the parking lot after practice (I drive a black Ford Edge).   I still need to collect $ from 12 players by the end of day on Thursday (8/28) in order for the pasta parties to go as planned.  Just have to re-mention this, if we don't get $35 from each player by end of day 8/28, the parties won't happen.  The players really enjoy these dinners as a team building tradition the night prior to each game.

Chain Gang Needed ASAP - We need 3 people for each of the 3 HOME games to volunteer to move the chains.  The home games are:  Sept. 12 at 6:45, Oct. 9 and Oct. 16 at 4:30.  Please respond if you can do it.  Last year, we did not have people in place and it became an issue on game day.  Let's not have that happen again this year :)

Last Call For Picnic on 8/30 -   Parents can email Matt Maines mwmaines@msn.com with their number of people and hots/hams and send check in to practice and give to Tyler Maines.  Please let him know if player is coming alone and what they want to eat.  The picnic is at Webster Park at noon in Lakeview Shelter #1.

Media - The team needs a parent volunteer to manage this.  I am happy to help with the pasta parties and some team emails, but will not be managing this.  Attached is the order form for JV parents. If JV parents would like Varsity Media to be the video provider we need a minimum of 12 parents for the $125 online package. Basically the magic number is $1,500. This gets all parents that sign up access to box.com which will have all 8 games this season in beautiful high definition! Those who would like the USB drive that's addition $25 for season. Finally, it is best if a parent or two steps up to gather 12 families because we don't want to have someone send in money if you don't have the minimum amount of parents. There are a few families that I do not have email addresses for.  If you see that a name has been left off of this distribution list, please bring it to my attention ASAP, or provide any email addresses you may have.  I know two of the emails I am missing are for Domenic Sulli and Zyrese Lloyd, so if anyone has either of their parents' email, please let me know.

Updated Pasta Party Information for the JV Team
$35 payment will be collected after the WABO meeting on Tuesday, August 26.

Final Cost:  $35* per player for a total of 8 pasta dinners 
                             *This price is less than $5.00 per meal!

Price includes:  Pasta from Proietti’s, bottled water, bread, dessert

Coach Turner will announce for all JV parents to meet with Linda Kehoe at the end of the WABO meeting.  Linda will manage the money and the schedule as well as buy all of the plates, utensils, bottled water, bread and desserts. 

Minimal commitment is needed from parents to help with picking up the pasta from Proietti’s, set up and clean up at the school.  A sign up sheet will be available at the WABO meeting.

The dates for the first 7 pasta dinners are listed below; the dinners will be served in Schroeder's cafeteria immediately following practice; approximately 5:00 PM.  An 8th game will be added based on record, but that date is not known yet:

Practice begins Monday August 18th!

Just a reminder that practice begins Monday August 18th from 7:30am to 2:45pm.  Please make sure all players have a mouth guard, pack a lunch, snack, etc.

All players must have their Seasonal Sports Form and updated physical into the school nurse prior to beginning practice.  The nurses will be at Willink tonight from 6-9pm if you still need to turn your paperwork in.  Players cannot miss any practices to play in the scrimmage so if you do not have your paperwork in on Monday you will not be eligible to play in the scrimmage.

Update for Eastside Camp

As we found out last night the camp actually begins at 6:00 with a guest speaker on the turf at Thomas High School.  Please drop JV Football players off at Thomas by 5:45, we will listen to the guest speaker then walk to Willink for the actual camp.  This means drop off is at Thomas and pick up will be behind Willink around 8:30.  Please let me know if you have any questions regarding this.

Practice Schedule for ALL 9th and 10th grade Football Players

Practice for ALL 9th and 10th grade Football Players will begin Monday August 18th.  From Monday through Friday August 22nd players will need to be in the locker room by 7:30am and will need to be picked up by 3:00pm.  Each day will be broken up into three shorter practices: a special teams practice, an offensive practice, and a defensive practice.  Players should bring water, sports drinks, a healthy snack such as fruits and nuts, a healthy lunch, etc. to have in between practices.

Saturday will be one longer practice; players will be in the locker room by 7:30 and done by 10:30am.  After this first week of practice the coaches will determine which 9th graders will continue practicing with the JV team and which ones will begin practicing with the Modified A team on Monday August 25th.

Again, players cannot miss any practices these first two weeks to be eligible for the scrimmage on Saturday August 30th.  To be eligible a player needs 11 practices prior to the scrimmage and each day can only count as one practice.  This is a New York State rule, not a team rule.

The schedule for the second week of practice will be determined based on Freshmen Orientation and other possible conflicts.

Seasonal Sports Forms

Reminder: Seasonal Sports Forms must be submitted along with an up-to-date physical to the high school on or before Friday August 15th for players to begin practice on Monday August 18th.
Seasonal Sports Forms are located on the window sill outside the Athletic Director's Office at Schroeder and can be turned in with the updated physical to the Athletic Directors Office or to the nurses at Willink August 13th or 14th from 6:00-9:00pm.

 All 9th and 10th football players are expected to begin practice with the JV team on Monday August 18th.  Players need 11 practices prior to the scrimmage on August 30th to be eligible to play in the scrimmage.  Each day counts as 1 practice so any player that misses a day of practice between August 18th and August 30th will not be eligible for the scrimmage.  This is a state rule and we have no way around it.

Eastside Camp this week!

Reminder: The Eastside Football Camp is this Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday night from 5:30 to 8:30.  The JV Camp will be at Willink Middle School and we will meet there at 5:00.  If anyone needs a helmet or shoulder pads please come get them tomorrow at lifting (from 9-11) at Schroeder.  Please make sure you have you registration (on this website), payment, and a mouth guard (we have not have any in yet) when you come to Willink tomorrow night.  Please let me know if you have any questions at 330-9751.
